City of Koronadal – Some one hundred ten (110) donors from South Cotabato joined the Governor’s Charity Ball last July 17 to raise funds for the province’s Kabugwason-Paglaum Scholarship Program (KPSP), according to a senior tourism official.
Cesar Sulit Jr., South Cotabato tourism officer, disclosed in a report that 110 philanthropists paid P2,000.00 per ticket to attend the said “dinner for a cause”, which also offered entertainment at The Farm @ Carpenter Hill, this city.
This aside from other personal contributions of some South Cotabatenos, Sulit added, which were paid directly to the Provincial Treasurer’s Office.
He further added that the net proceeds of said ball will automatically be turned over to the coffers of the province and set as a trust fund for KPSP scholars.
Formerly Known as “Balikbayan Night” and renamed this year as “Governor’s Charity Ball”, the event aimed to create awareness on the province’s education program and raise funds for its scholarship project, as one of the highlight activities of the 15th T’nalak Festival and 48th Foundation Anniversary of South Cotabato.
KPSP was conceptualized by then Vice-Governor (now Vice-Mayor) Eliordo Ogena and was passed in 2005 by the Sanngguniang Panlalawigan.
It was also signed into an ordinance by then Governor Daisy Avance Fuentes on the same year.
