Koronadal City, Philippines | October 28, 2025 — Barangay Local Government Units (BLGUs) from across South Cotabato gathered for a day of celebration during the LIGA Day and Awarding Ceremony held at the South Cotabato Gymnasium and Cultural Center.
The event highlighted the dedication and exemplary performances of barangays in governance, peacekeeping, and community service.
The activity featured the Awarding of the Seal of Good Local Governance for Barangay (SGLGB) national passers, the SGLGB Angat Awards, and the Lupong Tagapamayapa Incentives Awards, recognizing barangays that demonstrated excellence in local administration and conflict resolution.
The event, organized by the Liga ng mga Barangay (LnB) Provincial Chapter led by Board Member Niel Ryan Escobillo, in partnership with the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) South Cotabato, served as a venue to honor local leaders who continue to uphold transparency, accountability, and efficiency in governance.
Through the LIGA Day celebration, the Provincial Government of South Cotabato and the DILG reaffirmed their shared commitment to strengthen barangay governance and empower local leaders as vital partners in achieving sustainable and inclusive development across the province.
Governor Reynaldo S. Tamayo Jr. graced the ceremony and reaffirmed his continued support for all barangay leaders in the province.
“Makakaasa kayo na bilang Gobernador ninyo, patuloy na magiging katuwang ninyo ako sa serbisyo natin dito sa probinsya. Sa tulong ng ating Sangguniang Panlalawigan headed by our Provincial Vice Governor, sa tingin ko, sa pagtutulungan natin—maideliver natin ang maayos na serbisyo sa ating mga kababayan,” he said.
In his message before thousands of barangay officials, Governor Tamayo commended the efforts of barangay officials in delivering efficient and people-centered services.
“Ito yung araw na maipakita na hindi lang pala yung mga constituents ninyo ang nakakita ng magandang serbisyo meron kayo — Ito ay dahil sa gabay ng DILG na nakatutok din sa inyo kasama ng inyong mga LIGA officers,” Governor Tamayo said.
