Headlines: South Cotabato crafts three-year investment plan with inclusive, sustainable development goals

The Provincial Government of South Cotabato has taken a decisive step toward charting the province’s development direction for the next three years with the conduct of a three-day presentation and critiquing of the proposed programs, projects, and activities under the Provincial Development Investment Program (PDIP) 2026–2028.

The three-day activity, held in Davao City, gathered heads and representatives of provincial offices, civil society organizations, and members of the technical working group to ensure that all proposed initiatives are aligned with the province’s medium-term development priorities.

Provincial Planning and Development Coordinator Marites Tanseco said the PDIP serves as a vital planning tool that guides the allocation of resources to programs and projects that will generate the most significant social and economic impact.

“This process allows us to scrutinize and prioritize investments that directly respond to the needs of our communities and contribute to the province’s inclusive and sustainable growth,” Tanseco said.

During the critiquing sessions, provincial offices presented their proposed initiatives covering the social, infrastructure, economic, environmental, and institutional sectors before the members of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan, headed by Vice Governor Arthur Y. Pingoy Jr.

The discussions focused on seeing to it that the budget is consistent with the updated Provincial Development and Physical Framework Plan (PDPFP) to guarantee that proposed programs, projects, and activities (PPAs) support the province’s overall development thrust.

Provincial Administrator Atty. Renette Bergado emphasized that the PDIP is not merely a list of projects but a roadmap toward improving the quality of life for every South Cotabateño.

“Each project we plan today must create lasting impact on the lives of the people and empower everyone by improving access to basic services,” Bergado said. Once finalized, the PDIP 2026–2028 will serve as the basis for the Annual Investment Programs (AIPs) and the formulation of budgets in the succeeding years.

The Provincial Government reaffirmed its commitment to evidence-based planning and participatory governance to ensure that every peso invested delivers measurable results and contributes to the province’s vision of a “Caring, resilient, ecologically-balanced, highly-responsive, functional, integrated, and equitably growing agro-industrial and tourism hub by 2028.”
