Health navigator lauds Gov. Tamayo’s grassroots health program

KORONADAL CITY , SOUTH COTABATO PHILIPPINES | FEBRUARY 25, 2026 — A Provincial Family Health Navigator from Barangay Assumption has strongly defended the Provincial Family Health Navigators Program amid circulating claims that it is “useless,” citing its significant impact on women and grassroots communities under the leadership of Reynaldo S. Tamayo Jr.

Jemia Mojan P. Morzan, an active Provincial Family Health Navigator, said the initiative of Gov. Tamayo continues to deliver meaningful health services directly to barangays, particularly benefiting women and families in far-flung communities.

“Dako ini nga bulig labi na sa mga kababaihan,” Morzan said, noting that the program effectively bridges families to provincial health services and other government interventions.

She emphasized that through Gov. Tamayo’s health programs, many residents have gained access to medical assistance, insurance benefits, and other support services.

In Barangay Assumption, Morzan explained that Health Navigators work closely with Barangay Health Workers (BHWs) and midwives to ensure proper coordination and monitoring of families’ health needs. Tasks are systematically assigned, and regular reports are submitted to BHWs to maintain accurate health records.

“Nagtutulongan kami sa community. Ang BHW kag midwife naga hatag sang assignment, kag kami ang naga report sa ila,” she said.

Morzan also highlighted the financial relief provided by the honorarium granted to Health Navigators, noting that it helps augment household income and support daily needs.

“Sa amon nga may ara isa ka Navigator sa balay, makabulig ini sa amon palangabuhian,” she added.

Addressing critics, Morzan appealed for fairness and understanding, stressing that the program has already made a tangible difference in many communities.

“Tani indi sila maghambal nga wala sang pulos. Para sa amon, madamo na ini sang nahimo, labi na sa mga kababaihan nga ginahatagan sang oportunidad kag benepisyo pareho sang insurance,” she said.

She expressed her gratitude to Gov. Tamayo for sustaining the Provincial Family Health Navigators Program, describing it as a vital initiative that strengthens community healthcare and empowers women across the province.
