Housing project set to break ground this year, says Gov. Tamayo

KORONADAL CITY, Philippines | August 4, 2025—During the flag ceremony held Monday morning, South Cotabato Governor Reynaldo Tamayo Jr. announced that the provincial government is moving forward with its housing relocation project, with construction set to begin this year.

The Office of the Provincial Assessor is currently identifying suitable relocation sites for the program. According to Gov. Tamayo, funding for the construction phase was already released last week, allowing the project to proceed as planned.

“Sana mag allocate ang national government para madami ang magiging housing program hindi lang limited sa pinangako lang,”

Gov. Tamayo said, expressing hope for additional national support to expand the program beyond initial commitments.

He also acknowledged public doubts about the project, but emphasized that it is now becoming a reality.

“Madami man ang nagsasabi na impossible pero ito na uumpisahan na talaga ngayong taon, “he added.

The relocation initiative is part of the South Cotabato provincial government’s broader efforts to provide safe and permanent housing for South Cotabatenos.
