CITY OF KORONADAL —- Some 50 Indigenous People (IPs) coming from different communities in the province and residents of Tantangan town benefited from a Capability-building on Product Development jointly sponsored by the Province of South Cotabato and the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) conducted last October 19 – 23 at Viajera Hotel, here.
Internationally-acclaimed fashion guru Jared Servano, this city, winner of Project Runway Philippines fashion design contest led the first 4 days of training of the artisans composed of weavers, beadmakers and embroiderers as Resource Speaker.
The training conducted by Servano on October 19 were Nesif/Embroidery with participants from Lake Sebu; October 20 – Nesif/Embroidery (T’boli and Polomolok); October 21 – Beads/Accessories (Lake Sebu and T’boli); October 22 – Weaving (Tantangan, Lake Sebu and Norala).
The last day of the activity (October 23) was dedicated on Pottery with Rey Soliven, (FAME Exhibitor) from Manila as Resource Speaker via zoom and participants coming from Tantangan, the pottery capital of the province.
Last Saturday, a virtual monitoring among participants was likewise conducted by Lyka Agan of DTI on the progress of the products they have developed.
An assessment and monitoring will be regularly made by Servano after the October training until December this year and an exhibit of the various finished products is likewise planned in the future.
