KORONADAL CITY, South Cotabato — The Provincial Government of South Cotabato continues to strengthen its investment in education through the Kabugwason-Paglaum Scholarship and Grant-In-Aid Program (KPSGIAP), providing qualified students with financial assistance of up to P65,000 per semester based on their beneficiary category and school.
Atty. Rhonalyn C. Gallego, KPSGIAP CAO/OIC Executive Director, said the program aims to lessen the financial burden on students and their families.
“Ang aton nga scholarship program is designed to ensure that financial limitations will not prevent deserving South Cotabato students from pursuing their dreams in education,” Gallego said.
Based on the KPSGIAP scholarship benefits matrix, qualified recipients are classified into six categories: indigent students with a General Weighted Average (GWA) of 85 or above, indigent students who are persons with disabilities (PWDs), Indigenous Peoples (IPs), Muslims, solo parents, and students who have brought honor to South Cotabato by winning national or international competitions.
Gallego emphasized that the program goes beyond financial assistance.
“We are not only helping our students finish their degrees; we are also investing in their potential to become professionals who can contribute to the development of South Cotabato,” she added.
For scholars enrolled in state universities or colleges, Categories A to E may receive P35,000 per semester, consisting of P5,000 for other school fees, P25,000 monthly stipend covering five months, and P5,000 book allowance.
Category F scholars, or those who have brought honor to the province, may receive up to P50,000 in state universities and colleges.
In private universities or colleges, Categories A to E may receive P42,000 per semester, while Category F may receive the highest benefit of P65,000, including P30,000 tuition and P35,000 stipend.
She likewise reminded scholars that receiving government support comes with responsibility.
“We encourage our scholars to value this opportunity, maintain good academic performance, and remember that their success is also a way of giving back to the province that supports them,” Gallego urged.
The KPSGIAP benefits demonstrate the provincial government’s continuing commitment to making higher education more accessible, particularly for students from sectors needing additional educational support.
