CITY OF KORONADAL — An internationally-acclaimed local fashion designer got the nod of the Local Culture and Arts Council (LCAC) of South Cotabato through the passage of a resolution during their 3rd Quarter LCAC meeting here held in EMR Center.
Jared Servano, Project Runway Philippines Season 4 winner, said that he requested the support of LCAC because he believed that the talent of local artists particularly designers and weavers can be honed and leveled up into world class works of art, as attested by the awards received by local artists from prestigious award-giving bodies.
South Cotabato’s Lang Dulay and Fu Yabing were awardees of Gawad Manlilikha for Weaving given by the National Commission for Culture and The Arts (NCCA) a few years back.
With the unanimous approval of the council, Servano plans to jump start the activity with the conduct of an orientation and workshop in T’boli, with the attendance of at least 2 artists representing each LGU.
Provincial Board Member Glyzel Trabado, SP Committee Chairperson on Culture and The Arts seconded the approval of the resolution by providing support to the organizational meeting in the form of meals and snacks.
LCAC plans to send the resolution to a higher governing body for consideration and also to the South Cotabato Economic and Investment Promotions Center as the initial member of the council to review the global opportunities for the said project.
Aside from passage of said resolution, LCAC likewise passed another resolution during the meeting supporting the designation of a Heritage Tree Program and authorizing administrative acts consistent with the designation.
