Luntao pushes resolution granting retirement benefits to barangay nutrition scholars

South Cotabato, Philippines | November 01, 2025 – Board Member Luntao, Chairperson of the Committee on Health, is taking steps to recognize the dedication of Barangay Nutrition Scholars (BNS) by crafting a resolution granting retirement benefits to those who have served for many years in their respective communities.

Under the proposed measure, BNS with 10 to 15 years of service, will receive ₱10,000, those with 16 to 20 years will get ₱15,000, and those who have rendered 21 years or more will be granted ₱25,000 upon retirement.

The initiative was announced during the Barangay Nutrition Scholars Implementation Review and Congress 2025, attended by BNS representatives across the province along with Provincial Nutrition Action Officer Rudy S. Jimenea.

Luntao emphasized that the proposal aims to honor the years of selfless service of nutrition scholars who have helped sustain community-based health and nutrition programs.

“This resolution is a small but meaningful way of saying thank you to our BNS who have dedicated their time and effort to improving lives in the barangays,” Luntao said.

The resolution is expected to be finalized within four months and may take effect by 2026, once approved by the Sangguniang Panlalawigan and relevant provincial offices.

If passed, the measure will become a milestone in the province’s continuing commitment to reward and empower grassroots workers, recognizing them as key partners in achieving a healthier and well-nourished South Cotabato.
