Mahintana Foundation turns over ₱12.4-M share to South Cotabato hospitals

South Cotabato, Philippines — The Mahintana Foundation has turned over a record-high ₱12.4 million share from its 2025 Health Plus Counter (HPC) operations to the Provincial Government of South Cotabato, further strengthening its long-standing partnership in sustaining medicine accessibility and hospital support services in the province.

During the cheque turnover ceremony, Liza Duropan-Lopez, Executive director of Mahintana Foundation said the foundation has remained a strong healthcare partner of the province for the past 17 years, helping ensure the continuous availability of medicines and operational support in government-managed hospitals.

Of the total amount turned over for 2026, Norala District Hospital received ₱4,762,961.62 while South Cotabato Provincial Hospital received ₱7,689,162.10, representing the hospitals’ shares from the net savings generated through the HPC operations in 2025.

Lopez said the amount marks the highest recorded share turned over by the foundation since the implementation of the partnership.

Noting that from 2014 to 2024 alone, a cumulative ₱28.4 million representing the province’s 70-percent share from net savings had already been remitted to the provincial government.

She added that since 2009, the Health Plus Counter program has already served around 1,731,623 patients across partner hospitals.

While in 2025 alone, the program catered to 81,493 patients and achieved a 99.99-percent fulfillment rate for 348,546 prescriptions dispensed through its pharmacies.

“Beyond providing generic medicines, Mahintana Foundation serves as an operational partner of PGSC-managed hospitals by ensuring continuous medicine availability, supporting hospital operations, providing capacity development for healthcare service providers, and strengthening the functionality of therapeutics committees,” Lopez said.

She emphasized that the foundation does not function merely as an ordinary pharmacy or drug supplier, but as a “stop-gap pharmacy” that complements hospital services to guarantee uninterrupted patient care for admitted patients, outpatient department clients, and other beneficiaries of provincial health programs.

The provincial government recognized the partnership with Mahintana Foundation as one of the key mechanisms supporting the province’s healthcare initiatives, particularly in maintaining medicine access and improving the efficiency of hospital-based pharmaceutical services in South Cotabato.
