Mass castration drive in Sto. Niño boosts rabies prevention

South Cotabato, Philippines — A total of 36 pets—27 dogs and 9 cats—received free spay and neuter services during a mass castration drive at the Sto. Niño Municipal Gymnasium, part of Rabies Awareness Month.

The activity served 22 pet owners and promoted population control to reduce rabies risk and improve community safety.

The program was led by the Provincial Government of South Cotabato under Gov. Reynaldo Tamayo Jr., in partnership with the LGU of Sto. Niño led by Mayor Sulpicio Villalobos.

It was implemented by the Office of the Provincial Veterinarian and the Municipal Agriculturist Office, with support from the City Veterinary Office of Koronadal and Pet’s Kingdom Animal Clinic.

Beneficiary Analyn Laverge thanked the program.

“Dako gid ini nga bulig. Nakontrol na ang population sang akon ido kag mas naglain ang seguridad sang amon komunidad,” she said.

The provincial government reaffirmed its commitment to a rabies-free South Cotabato through sustained animal welfare programs.
