Koronadal City—Five dairy farmer-cooperatives in South Cotabato received milking processing equipment and machineries, Dr. Flora Bigot, Provincial Veterinary Officer said during a turn-over ceremony held at the Provincial Capitol Covered Court recently.
The Provincial Veterinary allocated at least P500, 000 from the Annual Development Fund for the purchased of freezer and milking machines. PVET aimed to add great value to backyard goat raisers , buffalo and cow-farmers who are currently hand milking by improving efficiency, sanitation and facilitate increased earnings.
“The project is in support to strengthen the local dairy industry of South Cotabato,” Dr. Bigot stressed.
Milking machines were distributed to Barangay Buto Small Coconut Farmers Organization, Canahay Dairy Farmers Association, and Malaya Farmers Integrated Association. Meanwhile, a freezer and milking machine was turned over to Hang Land Agricultural Credit Cooperative while the Backyard Goat Raisers Association of South Cotabato received a milking machine.
Bigot said that PVET is driven to do more for the local farmers to support their families and cater to institutional markets such as the school-based feeding program of the Department of Education and the Provincial Government’s supplementary feeding program.
