Multi-Purpose Drying Facility Underway to Support IP Farmers in Lake Sebu

LAKE SEBU, South Cotabato | February 13, 2026 — The Provincial Government of South Cotabato continues to strengthen agricultural infrastructure support for farming communities as construction progresses on a Multi-Purpose Drying Pavement (MPDP) in Sitio Lamsuel 1, Barangay Tasiman.

The project is part of the province’s Provision of Pre and Post Harvest Facilities (PPHF) program, which aims to improve post-harvest handling and reduce crop losses among farmers.

According to Engr. Joan Batobalani, “the drying facility is intended to serve members of the Kesebung T’boli and Ubo Indigenous Peoples Association Inc. (KETAUIPA), providing them with a reliable and weather-resistant space for drying agricultural produce.”

The construction of the project began on December 30, 2025, and is currently progressing according to schedule.

Funded through the province’s 20 percent Local Development Fund (LDF) for 2025, the project carries a total investment of Php 1,088,920.06.

The construction is being undertaken by Tampico Engineering and Industrial Facilities, with completion targeted in March 2026.

“Once operational, the drying pavement is expected to significantly minimize post-harvest losses, improve crop quality, and increase the market competitiveness of farm products,” Batobalani said.

Provincial officials also anticipate that the facility will help enhance productivity and boost income among Indigenous Peoples farmers in the area.

The project forms part of the provincial government’s broader efforts to promote inclusive development by ensuring that essential agricultural infrastructure reaches marginalized and geographically isolated communities.

Batobalani said the initiative also supports sustainable farming practices and long-term economic opportunities for local farmers in Lake Sebu.
