NDH sets mobile blood donation drive to support patients in Norala

South Cotabato, Philippines | January 15, 2026 – Recognizing the continuing need for readily available blood in medical emergencies and life-sustaining treatments, the Norala District Hospital (NDH) will hold a Mobile Blood Donation Program on January 22, 2026, from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon at the NDH Holding Area beside the hospital guard house.

Hospital officials said the initiative forms part of NDH’s broader efforts to ensure a stable and sufficient blood supply for patients within Norala and neighboring communities, particularly those requiring immediate transfusion due to accidents, childbirth complications, surgeries, and chronic illnesses.

Dr. Mila Quinton of Norala District Hospital underscored that access to blood remains a critical component of effective hospital care, noting that shortages can place patients at serious risk.

“Blood is not something that can be manufactured or replaced. It can only come from willing donors,” Quinton said.

“In emergency situations, having blood readily available can determine whether a patient survives. This is why community participation is essential.” She added

Quinton also said that the hospital continues to appeal to residents to view blood donation as a shared civic duty that directly contributes to saving lives within their own locality.

“Behind every blood donation is a real person, a mother, a child, or a neighbor, whose life may depend on it. When members of the community step forward to donate, they become part of a collective effort to protect and sustain life,” she said.

NDH emphasized that the donation process will follow established medical and safety protocols.

Prospective donors will undergo screening and are required to present a valid identification card to ensure eligibility and donor safety.

The hospital will also provide post-donation care, including free snacks and vitamins, to support donor recovery.

Hospital officials encouraged residents to take part in the activity and to invite family members, friends, and colleagues, stressing that voluntary blood donation plays a vital role in strengthening the local healthcare system and improving emergency preparedness.

The Mobile Blood Donation Program, NDH said, reflects the hospital’s commitment to community-centered healthcare, where public service extends beyond hospital walls and relies on the active involvement of citizens.

NDH reiterated that even a single blood donation can save multiple lives, making the activity an opportunity for residents to contribute meaningfully to the well-being and resilience of the Norala community.
