New ₱2.6-B investment in coconut facility seen to boost South Cotabato’s economy, jobs

TUPI, South Cotabato — South Cotabato’s local economy is poised for another major boost as Century Pacific Food, Inc. (CNPF), the company behind well-known household brands such as Century Tuna, 555 Sardines, Argentina Corned Beef, Birch Tree Milk, and Coco Mama, invested ₱2.6 billion in a newly acquired coconut processing facility in the municipality of Tupi.

The move strengthens investor confidence in the province and reinforces South Cotabato’s growing reputation as a prime business and agro-industrial hub in Mindanao.

The newly acquired facility, purchased from Roxas Sigma Agriventures, Inc. (RSAI) through CNPF’s subsidiary Coco Harvest, Inc. (CHI), is expected to increase coconut processing capacity and create significant employment opportunities for local residents. The company estimates around 800 direct and indirect jobs will be generated once the plant becomes fully operational.

Key executives of Century Pacific Food, Inc. made a courtesy visit to Governor Reynaldo S. Tamayo Jr., represented by Acting Provincial Administrator Atty. Renette B. Bergado, to discuss possible collaborations that will further enhance agricultural productivity and community development, and employment in the province.

The ₱2.6-billion acquisition includes a fully integrated coconut processing facility that produces coconut cream, milk, virgin coconut oil, and coconut water concentrate — products in high demand in both local and international markets.

CNPF stated that the investment was financed through internally generated funds, highlighting its commitment to sustainability and long-term growth in Mindanao.

With this development, South Cotabato strengthens its position as one of Mindanao’s fastest-growing provinces, attracting more industries and opening new opportunities for farmers, workers, and local enterprises.
