KORONADAL CITY, South Cotabato — The newly elected officers of the Provincial Agricultural and Fishery Council (PAFC) formally took their oath of office at the Provincial Capitol Compound before Governor Reynaldo S. Tamayo Jr., officially assuming their roles as leaders of the province’s multi-sectoral consultative and advisory body for the agriculture and fisheries sector.
Leading the new set of officers is Christian Bernard Charlemagne M. Solomon of Banga as PAFC Chairperson, with Edmundo J. Amorte of Tampakan as Vice Chairperson, Apolonio F. Mayuga of Norala as Secretary, Roselyn E. Patriarca of T’boli as Treasurer, Freddie T. Balintongog of Tupi as Auditor, and Romeo C. Hizon of Koronadal City as Public Information Officer.
PAFC Chairperson Solomon emphasized that the council remains committed to working alongside the Provincial Government and key stakeholders to drive initiatives that directly uplift local farmers, fisherfolk, and agricultural workers across the province.
“We are the policy-making body. We are a team. We support all government projects with regards to helping our farmers,” Solomon stated, highlighting the council’s ongoing mandate to bridge community needs with sustainable policy solutions.
Meanwhile, Susanita Limpot, Agricultural Technician 2 and PAFC Coordinator, said that by actively gathering ground-level insights and directly consulting with local farmers and fisherfolk, the council enables OPAG to align its provincial interventions, resources, and technical support with the actual needs of the agricultural sector.
“The council serves as the province’s policy-making and consultative body for the agriculture and fisheries sector. Composed of volunteer private sector representatives, the PAFC works closely with government agencies and stakeholders in formulating policy recommendations and supporting programs that benefit farmers and fisherfolk. Aside from that, the council also regularly monitors Department of Agriculture (DA)-funded projects to help ensure they are properly implemented and that government interventions effectively reach their intended beneficiaries.” Limpot explained.
As the provincial government’s key consultative and advisory body on agriculture and fisheries, the PAFC brings together representatives from farmers, fisherfolk, cooperatives, agribusiness groups, and various commodity sectors to formulate policy recommendations, strengthen partnerships, and support programs that promote agricultural productivity, food security, and sustainable rural development in South Cotabato.
