KORONADAL CITY , SOUTH COTABATO The management of Norala District Hospital (NDH), with the continued support of the Provincial Government of South Cotabato, has formally addressed an online post circulated last week regarding emergency room services, reaffirming its commitment to responsive, transparent, and people-centered public healthcare.

The concern involved a patient with long-term insomnia who sought medical assistance at the hospital’s emergency room.

Hospital officials clarified that, at the time of the incident, the emergency room was operating beyond its intended capacity and was attending to several critical and life-threatening cases.

In accordance with established triage protocols, priority was given to patients requiring immediate and urgent medical intervention.

The post subsequently gained attention on social media, generating public discussion on emergency care and patient management in government hospitals.

In response, NDH promptly reviewed the incident and reiterated that emergency room triage protocols are strictly implemented to ensure patient safety and to prioritize cases that pose immediate risks to life.

These protocols, the hospital emphasized, are standard public health practices designed to protect both patients and healthcare providers, especially during periods of high patient volume.

The hospital also appealed for understanding and continued support for its healthcare workers, who remain steadfast in serving the people of Norala and nearby communities despite challenges related to manpower, facilities, and increasing patient demand.

NDH noted that its medical personnel consistently attend to patients beyond the hospital’s designed capacity as part of its mandate to provide accessible public healthcare.
