KORONADAL CITY, SOUTH COTABATO-Backed by the continued support of the Provincial Government under Governor Reynaldo S. Tamayo Jr., Norala District Hospital (NDH) is moving forward with plans to further strengthen its facilities to improve patient care and program support.
According to Norala District Hospital, the Office of the Provincial Health Officer (OPHO), through the Health Facility Development Unit (HFDU), conducted an ocular inspection within the hospital compound for the proposed construction of a Health Activity Program Covered Area with separate male and female toilet facilities.
“This initiative reflects our mission to serve not only through medical care but by creating safe and supportive spaces for learning, healing, and community engagement,” said Dr. Mila Quinton, Chief of Hospital of Norala District Hospital.
The ocular inspection aimed to identify the most appropriate location within NDH that can support hospital-based health programs, patient education activities, and staff-led trainings.
The assessment carefully considered space adequacy, accessibility for patients and visitors, safety, drainage, and the overall integration of the facility with existing hospital operations.
“Once completed, the proposed covered area is expected to provide the hospital and the community with a functional and weather-protected venue that can be used for health promotion activities, community engagements, and internal hospital programs,” she explainesd.
Hospital officials said the addition of separate male and female toilet facilities reflects NDH’s strong commitment to patient comfort, proper sanitation, and gender-sensitive infrastructure, especially for patients and visitors spending long hours in the facility.
The activity marks an important step in NDH’s infrastructure development planning, as recommendations from the inspection will serve as the basis for finalizing the design, cost estimates, and implementation strategy to ensure the facility directly responds to the hospital’s operational needs.
Norala District Hospital reaffirmed its commitment to continuously improving the quality of healthcare services and enhancing its environment for patients, health workers, and visitors.
