Norala district hospital eyes higher healthcare standards following DOH evaluation

SOUTH COTABATO— Reinforcing its commitment to quality public healthcare and operational excellence, the Norala District Hospital (NDH) successfully underwent the Green Viability Assessment (GVA) and Integrated Hospital Operations and Management Program (IHOMP) evaluation conducted by the Department of Health–Center for Health Development SOCCSKSARGEN.

The comprehensive assessment examined the hospital’s compliance with national standards in governance, patient safety, infection prevention and control, healthcare waste management, emergency preparedness, service delivery, and overall facility readiness.

During the evaluation, NDH personnel led by Officer-in-Charge Benny Maypa, RN presented key developments and operational improvements implemented over the past year.

Reflecting the institution’s commitment to strengthening public healthcare services for the people of Norala and neighboring communities.

The GVA component focused on the hospital’s sustainability initiatives, infrastructure functionality, resource management, and environmental compliance.

While the IHOMP assessment reviewed the efficiency and effectiveness of critical hospital systems to ensure consistent and quality patient care.

Dr. Mila Quinton, Chief of Hospital, said the assessment reflects our commitment to continuously improving the quality of healthcare services we provide.

“The assessment serves as an important avenue for continuous improvement, helping identify areas that require enhancement while sustaining gains from previous evaluations,” Dr. Quinton said.

Initial observations from evaluators reportedly showed notable progress compared to previous years.

However, NDH clarified that the ratings posted by the hospital remain subject to validation and official release by the Department of Health.

The hospital administration likewise extended its gratitude to all personnel for their cooperation, discipline, and dedication throughout the activity, underscoring that excellent healthcare service is built through teamwork, resilience, and a shared commitment to public service.
