SOUTH COTABATO — Norala District Hospital recorded a 163 percent bed occupancy rate in March 2026, significantly exceeding its authorized 100-bed capacity and reflecting the rising demand for healthcare services in the area. Hospital records indicate that patient admissions have consistently gone beyond capacity, requiring medical staff to manage an increased caseload despite limited space and resources. The surge highlights both the growing need for medical care and the strain on existing facilities. Despite these challenges, healthcare workers continue to deliver services with efficiency and dedication, adapting to the volume of patients while sustaining the quality of care. Officials said the high occupancy rate points to the need for strengthened hospital capacity through infrastructure development, additional equipment, and expanded workforce support. In response, the hospital is currently undergoing expansion to better accommodate patients and enhance service delivery. Dr. Mila Quinton, Chief of Hospital, emphasized that the trend reflects the public’s trust in the institution. “The increasing number of patients reflects the community’s trust in our services. We remain committed to providing quality care and improving our capacity to better serve our patients,” Quinton said. With expansion efforts underway, the hospital remains optimistic that these developments will help meet the growing healthcare needs of the community while sustaining the standard of care every South Cotabateño deserves.
