South Cotabato, Philippines — Promoting health and wellness as a vital component of successful reintegration, the KapayapaAng Angat Center is part of the lectures for Former Rebels (FRs) and Former Violent Extremists (FVEs), especially on proper nutrition and healthy living.
Provincial Social Welfare and Development Officer Sonia Bautista, RSW, emphasized that successful reintegration goes beyond providing assistance and livelihood opportunities.
“Reintegration is a comprehensive process that includes restoring dignity, rebuilding self-confidence, and promoting overall well-being. Through activities such as nutrition education and wellness sessions, we are helping participants develop healthy habits that will support them as they rebuild their lives and become productive members of society,” Bautista said.
Recently, the center brought together 13 Former Rebels and 3 Former Violent Extremists who have chosen to embark on a renewed journey toward peace, healing, and productive reintegration into society through the Deradicalization and Reintegration Program.
This was the 12th batch.
As part of the program’s holistic approach to transformation, Perlie May L. Colacion facilitated a lecture on Nutrition, equipping participants with valuable knowledge on balanced diets, proper nutrition, and healthy lifestyle practices. The session highlighted the importance of maintaining good health as a foundation for improved quality of life, increased productivity, and overall well-being.
The nutrition class underscored the program’s commitment not only to addressing social and economic reintegration but also to nurturing the physical and mental wellness of participants as they transition back into their communities.
The Opening and Acceptance Ceremony marked another significant milestone in the government’s continuing efforts to foster reconciliation, transformation, and community rebuilding. The ceremony was attended by members of the Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program (E-CLIP) Committee, partner agencies, and various stakeholders whose continued support remains instrumental to the success of the program.
Bautista further highlighted the importance of collaboration among government agencies and partners in sustaining peace initiatives across the province.
“The success of this program reflects the strong partnership among government agencies, local government units, and stakeholders who share a common vision of lasting peace. By providing opportunities for healing, learning, and personal growth, we are empowering our Friends Rescued and Former Violent Extremists to create a better future for themselves, their families, and their communities,” she added.
The KapayapaAng Angat Center continues to serve as a beacon of hope and transformation, providing former rebels and former violent extremists with access to interventions designed to facilitate their transition into peaceful and productive civilian life.
Through initiatives that promote health, education, psychosocial support, and community engagement, the Center remains steadfast in its mission of advancing lasting peace, strengthening safer communities, and fostering inclusive development throughout South Cotabato.
