Nutrition program is ready for Gov. Tamayo’s more inclusive system

South Cotabato, Philippines | January 24, 2026 – South Cotabato Governor Reynaldo S. Tamayo Jr. has directed the Office of the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Officer Nutrition Program (OPSWDO-NP) to further strengthen and expand the province’s nutrition programs as part of his administration’s priority agenda for 2026 to 2028.

He emphasized the need for more responsive, community-based, and sustainable nutrition interventions to address malnutrition

“especially among children, pregnant women, and vulnerable sectors across the province,” he stressed that nutrition remains a cornerstone of human development and long-term progress”. Gov. Tamayo  stated

This directive was highlighted during the Nutrition Implementers’ Meeting held at Lake Sebu, South Cotabato, on January 21, 2026.

The activity officially opened the province’s nutrition initiatives for the year, bringing together key stakeholders and frontliners dedicated to improving public health outcomes.

 

Community Affairs Officer IV Angela B. Frugalidad, RND, underscored that the meeting served as a platform to align provincial and municipal strategies in combating malnutrition.

“This is Governor Tamayo’s guidance that aims to ensure that nutrition programs are not only strengthened but also effectively implemented at the grassroots level,” she said.

 

Thirty-one nutrition implementers participated and shared their best practices, challenges, and innovative approaches to improve service delivery.

 

Lake Sebu Mayor Antonio G. Fungan welcomed the participants and reaffirmed the municipality’s commitment to support the provincial government’s vision.

He emphasized that Lake Sebu’s local programs are closely aligned with Governor Tamayo’s priorities, particularly in nutrition, health, and social development.

“This alignment allows us to deliver services more effectively and ensure that our interventions directly respond to the needs of our communities,” he said.” Fungan Stated

 

Mayor Fungan added that strong collaboration between the provincial and municipal governments is essential to ensure that nutrition programs reach every household and make a lasting impact on the lives of South Cotabato residents.
