The Provincial Planning and Development Office – Research, Evaluation and Monitoring (PPDO -REM) Division is celebrating the 26th National Statistics Month (NSM) in the month of October and 2nd World Statistics Day on October 20 with the conduct of the Philippine Statistics Quiz (PSQ) – Provincial Eliminations slated on October 30.
This year’s NSM celebration theme is “Pagyamanin at Gamitin ang Estadistika, Kalusugan Para Sa Lahat ay Abot-Kamay Na,” while for the World Statistics Day is ‘Better data. Better lives.”
PSQ, which is now on its 24th year, is a program of the National Statistics Office now Philippine Statistics Authority, a merger of 3 national government statistical offices.
It aims to promote, enhance and instill awareness and appreciation of the importance and value of statistics among students in the tertiary level and likewise aims to generate public awareness on the important uses of statistics and win overall support for all government statistical activities.
Engr. Eleazer Abellera, chief of PPDO-REM disclosed that PSQ is open to all freshman college students.
“We will select top three winners in the schools in South Cotabato to represent the province in the regional competition,’ Engr. Abellera pointed out during a meeting with school administrators and representatives.
“Prizes in the form of cash incentives await the winners and non-winners. Trophies and certificates will also be given to all participating schools in recognition of their participation to the said event,” Abellera added.
Aside from PSQ, PPDO-REM is also currently undertaking Authentication of Civil Registry Documents such as Birth, Marriage and Death Certificates and Certificate of No Marriage Available or CENOMAR.
The payment fee for Birth, Marriage and Death Certificates is P190.00 each, while CENOMAR is P245.00.
Civil registry documents authentication runs from October 1 – 30.
