OPCDO South Cotabato empowers capacity of cooperative in Norala

NORALA, South Cotabato — Officers and members of the Norala Seed Growers Agriculture Cooperative (NOSEGA-Coop) completed a two-day training on the Fundamentals of Cooperatives held on February 24–25, 2026, in Barangay Kibid.

The activity aimed to strengthen the organizational capacity and operational effectiveness of the cooperative, in line with initiatives supported by the administration of Governor Reynaldo S. Tamayo Jr.

According to Jurich S. Basan, Cooperative Development Specialist II, the activity plays a vital role in building a solid foundation among cooperative members.

“Understanding the fundamentals of cooperatives is essential for members to become effective in management and active in organizational participation,” Basan said.

He emphasized that enhancing members’ knowledge contributes to transparency, accountability, and the long-term sustainability of the cooperative.

“The initiative also highlighted the importance of unity and collective decision-making in achieving shared goals,” Basan said.

By strengthening management capacity, the training also aims to improve the cooperative’s productivity and the quality of services it provides to its members.

Moreover, the activity underscored the role of cooperatives in generating economic opportunities and empowering local farmers, particularly in rural communities.

With the knowledge gained from the training, participants are expected to apply best practices in their operations, further contributing to the growth and development of NOSEGA-Coop and the broader agricultural sector not only in Norala, but in the whole province of South Cotabato.
