The Provincial Environment Management Office (PEMO) in partnership with the Allah Valley Landscape Development Alliance (AVLDA) gave recognition to Best Performing LFUs and Farmers on Bamboo Development from South Cotabato and Sultan Kudarat provinces during the celebration of World Bamboo Day on September 18 with its theme, “Kawayan: Kalikasan, Katatagan, Kabuhayan, Kaunlaran.”
Awarded from South Cotabato as Best Performing Municipal LGU were Surallah (1st), Tampakan (2nd0 and Banga (3rd) with cash incentives of P10,000.00, P7,000.00 and P5,000.00, respectively.
For the Barngay Category, winners were Lamba, Banga (1st), Naci, Surallah (2nd) and Buto, Tampakan (3rd) with cash incentives similar to MLGUs.
Individual Farmers, on the other hand, were categorized as Model Bamboo Site either as Bamboo Plantation or Riparian Zone Revegetation (RZR).
Winners for Bamboo Plantation were Ernesto Baterbonia (1st-P10,000.00), Eduardo Sulan (2nd-P7,000.00) and Karedia Dalindigan (3rd-P5,000.00 and for the RZR were Sonia Eding (1st-P10,000.000), Marcelino Perez (2nd-P7,000.00) and Jane Abdul (3rd-P5,000.00).
For Sultan Kudarat, meanwhile, the Best Performing Municipal LGU is Tacurong City (P10,000.00); Best Performing Barangay LGU is Rajah Muda, Tacurong City (P10,000.00); Model Bamboo Site (RZR) is Jerome Magbanua (P7,000.00).
Recognition of LGUs and Farmers on their performance on bamboo development has been a regular program jointly undertaken by PEMO and AVLDA on an annual basis.
