CITY OF KORONADAL — The Provincial Environment Management Office – Mines & Geo-Sciences Division (PEMO-MGD) will conduct a clean-up drive cum tree-planting activity on June 7 in celebration of World Environment Month.
Nencita Acain, PEMO-MGD chief disclosed that the focus of the 2 activities would be small-scale mining (SSM) areas particularly gullies, riverbanks or tunnel sites identified as environment protection areas.
Earlier, PEMO chief Siegfred Flaviano issued a memorandum to SSM associations, cooperatives and quarry permittees to conduct said activities in compliance with one of the conditions of permits for environmental protection in project sites.
The concerned SSM were also ordered to submit the location of their tree-planting activities and likewise provide seedlings for the said purpose.
PEMO Flaviano also required individual operators who do not belong to any group to join the activities or conduct their own clean-up and tree-planting provided photos or reports must be submitted to their office for recording and monitoring purposes.
Other PEMO divisions such as the Environment Management Division headed by SEMS Elbe Baluzanag will conduct their tree-planting on june 8 at the Integrated Provincial Environment Management Center at Tinongkop-,Tantangan while the Forest & Inland Water Division under Forester Mary Jane Manlisis will celebrate Earth Savers Day on June 10 at the PROTECH Center, this city.
