South Cotabato, Philippines | February 4, 2026 – As part of efforts to fully operationalize its processes, the construction of a perimeter fence at the South Cotabato Integrated Rice Processing Center in Barangay Liwanay, Banga, is now underway, enclosing a total area of 4.129 hectares.
Governor Reynaldo S. Tamayo Jr. said the provincial government is taking proactive steps to ensure the facility becomes operational soon.
“Ginagawan na ng paraan na mag-operate na yan. Nandoon tayo sa post-harvest facility, wala tayong problema sa production at sa market,” he said.
The governor emphasized that the silo facility is crucial in maintaining the balance between rice supply and demand in the province.
The Integrated Rice Processing Center is expected to help farmers improve post-harvest handling, preserve grain quality, and further strengthen the rice industry in South Cotabato.
The project includes the installation of a perimeter fence with a sliding gate worth ₱8.5 million, funded under the province’s 20% Local Development Fund for 2025.
Its primary goal is to secure the entire facility and ensure readiness for the anticipated full operation of the rice processing center.
This initiative is part of Governor Tamayo’s priority programs, aimed at supporting local farmers and reinforcing food security efforts in South Cotabato.
