PHRMO champions employee growth from recruitment to retirement

South Cotabato, Philippines –  Provincial Human Resource Management Officer (PHRMO) Freda Liza Gazo assures that government service in South Cotabato is not only about fulfilling duties but also about ensuring growth, recognition, and support for employees throughout their entire career journey.

“In every department, the Civil Service and the government as a whole provide mandates. Here at the Provincial Human Resource Management Office, we handle what we call personnel management for the entire agency,” Gazo said.

She stressed that this responsibility begins on an employee’s very first day—through recruitment, placement, and hiring—and extends until retirement. Throughout this journey, the office ensures that employees are given opportunities to learn, improve, and address performance gaps, working closely with department heads to implement needed interventions.

“If there are needs that should be addressed, we make sure interventions are implemented. And if efforts deserve to be recognized, employees must also be rewarded fairly,” Gazo added.

Beyond training and recognition, the PHRMO also monitors overall employee performance, ensuring that challenges are met with solutions. The office likewise facilitates proper transition at the end of service, whether through voluntary retirement at age 60 or mandatory retirement at 65.

“For us in the PHRMO, the whole employment journey is important. From beginning to end, we are here to guide and support every employee,” Gazo said.
