KORONADAL CITY, South Cotabato — Qualified South Cotabato residents pursuing law and medicine may receive up to P45,000 in financial assistance per semester under the Kabugwason-Paglaum Scholarship and Grant-in-Aid Program (KPSGIAP) of the Provincial Government of South Cotabato.
KPSGIAP Executive Director Atty. Rhonalyn C. Gallego emphasized that the program seeks to expand opportunities for South Cotabato residents who aspire to pursue advanced professional education.
“Through the postgraduate scholarship program, we aim to provide qualified residents with meaningful support as they pursue law, medicine, and other postgraduate studies,” Gallego said.
The scholarship provides up to P35,000 per semester for qualified Juris Doctor (JD) students and up to P45,000 per semester for Doctor of Medicine (MD) students. The assistance covers matriculation and other relevant school fees, book allowance, and monthly stipend.
Meanwhile, qualified beneficiaries taking other postgraduate courses may receive up to P30,000 per semester, provided they are public school teachers or government employees who are not recipients of other government scholarship programs.
Gallego also reminded prospective applicants to carefully comply with the eligibility and documentary requirements, particularly proof of residency, academic records, and certifications required by the program.
“Applicants should make sure that their documents are complete, accurate, and submitted according to the requirements so their applications can be properly evaluated,” she emphasized.
Among the qualifications are being a bona fide resident of South Cotabato for at least one year in their respective barangay, having good moral character, and having no pending or resolved disciplinary, administrative, civil, or criminal case.
Applicants must also not be recipients of other scholarship grants, subject to specified exceptions for academic honors and school-based academic scholarships.
For MD applicants, an NMAT result is also required.
She also noted that it is important to invest in education to contribute to the development of South Cotabato.
“Investing in postgraduate education means investing in future professionals who can contribute their expertise and service to the development of South Cotabato,” Gallego stressed.
The program underscores the provincial government’s continuing efforts to make higher and professional education more accessible to qualified residents.
