South Cotabato, Philippines — Residents of Sitio Lamkling, Barangay Talcon, Tboli, South Cotabato received various health, agricultural, livelihood, and veterinary services through a community outreach activity aimed at bringing essential government services closer to families in the area.
With a total of 137 households in the sitio, the activity provided services that addressed the immediate needs of residents, particularly in health care, food security, agriculture, and animal health.
Jojielyn Garao, activity in-charge, said the initiative was conducted to ensure that residents of Sitio Lamkling could benefit from essential government programs and services despite the community’s distance from the town center.
“Importante gid nga madala naton ang serbisyo sang gobyerno direkta sa mga komunidad. Paagi sini, mas mapalapit naton ang health, agriculture, kag veterinary services sa mga pamilya nga aton gina serbisyo.”
A total of 450 individuals benefited from the mass feeding activity, while 91 residents availed themselves of medical services. Dental services were also provided to 20 beneficiaries, while three individuals underwent circumcision.
The pharmacy component of the activity served 118 beneficiaries, providing medicines and other essential pharmaceutical assistance to residents.
Agricultural support was likewise extended to the community through the distribution of 100 packs of OPAG seeds, 200 seedlings, and 300 units of fertilizers and insecticides, helping residents strengthen their backyard and small-scale farming activities.
The Office of the Provincial Veterinarian (OPV) also provided veterinary services and agricultural inputs to local farmers and livestock owners. A total of 42 farmers were served, while 766 animals received vitamins, deworming, and antibiotics. Another nine animals were vaccinated during the activity.
For beneficiaries, the outreach program provided not only immediate assistance but also an opportunity to access government services without having to travel far from their community.
Meanwhile, Sunshine Buan, one of the beneficiaries, expressed her appreciation for the services brought directly to Sitio Lamkling, noting the importance of government programs reaching communities in geographically isolated areas.
“Dako gid ang amon nga pasalamat kay gindala diri mismo sa amon komunidad ang mga serbisyo. Dako ini nga bulig sa amon mga pamilya, labi na gid sa health kag agriculture,” Buan said.
The community outreach reflects the Provincial Government’s continuing efforts to make basic services more accessible to residents, particularly those living in far-flung and underserved communities.
Through the convergence of health, agricultural, and veterinary services, the activity provided immediate assistance while also supporting the overall well-being and livelihood of families in Sitio Lamkling, Tboli.
