SOUTH COTABATO, PHILIPPINES – The Province of South Cotabato recently held the oath-taking ceremony for the newly selected Junior Officials of the province.
The activity was spearheaded by the Provincial Youth Development Office (PYDO), which designated fourteen (14) young leaders from various municipalities and the lone city within the province.
Jobeelyn Baitus-Corill, Local Youth Development Officer III, said the selected Junior Officials will serve as temporary “shadow leaders” or counterparts of provincial officials, giving them the opportunity to observe and learn how the local government operates in actual practice.
“The selection and election of the Junior Officials were conducted to strengthen youth participation in advancing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and in furthering the province’s broader efforts toward overall progress,” Baitus-Corilla said.
Governor Reynaldo S. Tamayo Jr. emphasized the vital role of the youth in building a better future, saying,
“Our young people are the foundation and hope of the province. If they are given the right education and opportunities, supported by honest and transparent governance, I am confident that the next generation will have a brighter and more successful future.”
The newly elected Junior Officials will continue their “immersion” and “mentoring” in the various departments of the provincial government to help them become more effective leaders in the future.
