South Cotabato, Philippines | November 29, 2025 – The Provincial Nutrition Committee has strengthened local nutrition governance by leading a three-day Barangay Nutrition Action Plan (BNAP) Training for 60 participants from the municipalities of Tupi and Surallah.
The activity was held from November 25–27 at Balai Lake View Resort, with full support and funding from the participating LGUs.
Nutrition Officer I Liza Enamno, who led the facilitation, emphasized that the program aims to empower barangays to take ownership of their nutrition goals.
“Highlight is makabalu sila kung paano mag formulate sang ila nga BARANGAY NUTRITION ACTION PLAN(BNAP) 2026-2028…3-year plan” Enamno Stated

She added that having a well-crafted BNAP allows barangays to respond more effectively to issues such as malnutrition, stunting, micronutrient deficiencies, and food insecurity—challenges that continue to affect families in various communities.
The training brought together barangay captains, barangay secretaries, Barangay Nutrition Scholars, and resource speakers—each playing a vital role in shaping community-level strategies to address malnutrition and promote healthier families.

“Throughout the sessions, participants received guidance on how to craft an evidence-based and realistic Barangay Nutrition Action Plan (BNAP) for the next three years. The plan includes budget allocations to ensure implementation,” Enamno stressed.
By the end of the workshop, each barangay delegation produced its draft BNAP, marking a significant step toward strengthening local nutrition programs in South Cotabato.
With renewed leadership commitment and technical support from the Provincial Nutrition Committee, the barangay local government units are now better equipped to implement responsive, community-centered nutrition interventions in the coming years.
