PSWDO South Cotabato certified as ‘Mother-Baby Friendly Workplace’ by DOH 12

KORONADAL CITY, SOUTH COTABATO | May 4, 2026 — In a significant move toward fostering a supportive environment for working mothers and clients, the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO) has officially received the Mother-Baby Friendly Workplace Certification from the Department of Health (DOH) Center for Health Development SOCCSKSARGEN.

The recognition was formally handed over today, following a rigorous assessment of the office’s facilities, particularly its dedicated Breastfeeding Room. The certification affirms the provincial government’s compliance with Republic Act 10028, also known as the “Expanded Breastfeeding Promotion Act of 2009.”

Liza Enamno, Nutrition Officer I, emphasized that this achievement is a testament to the province’s holistic approach to health and social welfare.

“We are very proud to receive this certification. It validates our commitment to ensuring that our employees and the clients who visit our office have access to a private, clean, and safe space for breastfeeding,” Enamno said. “This initiative is not just about compliance; it is about protecting the health of our children and supporting the welfare of our workforce.”

The PSWDO Breastfeeding Room is equipped with essential amenities designed to provide comfort and privacy for lactating mothers. Enamno added that having such facilities in government offices helps normalize breastfeeding and encourages mothers to continue exclusive breastfeeding even as they return to work.

The certification is part of a broader effort under the administration of Governor Reynaldo S. Tamayo Jr. to institutionalize quality service delivery and inclusive workplace policies across all provincial departments.

With this milestone, the PSWDO sets a benchmark for other local government offices in South Cotabato to prioritize maternal and child health by establishing responsive and friendly workplace environments.

There are two breastfeeding rooms inside the Provincial Capitol. The other functional breastfeeding room is located near the governor’s office.
