Quest for 2025 model family begins in South Cotabato

Koronadal City, South Cotabato, Philippines— The Office of the Provincial Population Officer (OPPO) has launched the annual Search for the Most Outstanding Model Family, honoring exemplary families who embody strong values and community involvement in South Cotabato.

For 2025, the search features two major categories: the General Category and the Indigenous Peoples (IP) Category. In the General Category, 10 families are competing, each representing one of nine municipalities and one city; however, Lake Sebu has no entry this year. The IP Category consists of entries from six municipalities, specifically including families who identify as Indigenous Peoples.

  • October 25, 2025 – Awarding for IP Category
  • November 7, 2025 – Awarding for General Category

The evaluation process was initiated in September and will continue through October. The awarding ceremonies are scheduled on October 25, 2025, for the IP Category and November 7, 2025, for the General Category.

According to Ms. Melanie Chiva of the OPPO, the search categories are periodically updated to reflect the province’s cultural diversity. For example, a new Moro Category specifically for families of Moro descent will be introduced in 2027 following the passage of a provincial ordinance, further broadening representation alongside the General and IP Categories.

“The Search for the Most Outstanding Model Family is more than just recognition—it affirms the family as the foundation of South Cotabato’s development,” Chiva said.

The Provincial Government underscores its commitment to family development and social cohesion, making this annual search a platform that highlights the vital role of South Cotabateño families in shaping a stronger, more united province.
