South Cotabato, Philippines — Eight former rebels comprising the third batch of beneficiaries under the Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program (E-CLIP) received assistance from the Provincial Government of South Cotabato to support their reintegration and peaceful return to their communities.
The program is implemented under the leadership of Governor Reynaldo S. Tamayo Jr., in partnership with the Philippine National Police Regional Office XII (PNP RXII), headed by PBGen Alan B. Manibog; the South Cotabato Police Provincial Office (SCPPO), headed by Acting Provincial Director PCOL Isralene Z. Lauren; the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP); and the Office of the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Officer (PSWDO).
According to Alyas Jak, one of the surrenderers, life in the mountains was difficult as they constantly faced fear, uncertainty, and limited access to basic necessities.
He also expressed gratitude for the opportunity to return to their communities and receive livelihood assistance.
Meanwhile, Governor Tamayo highlighted the strong partnership among the local government, PNP, and AFP in encouraging former rebels to return to the folds of the law.
Tamayo said.
Regional Mobile Force Battalion 12 Force Commander PCOL Samuel Cadungon also emphasized the role of the security sector in supporting the government’s peace and reintegration efforts.
The beneficiaries received monetary and livelihood assistance to help them establish sustainable sources of income and rebuild their lives with their families and communities.
Through E-CLIP, friends rescued are provided with opportunities to reintegrate into society and pursue peaceful and productive lives after choosing to abandon armed conflict. The program also demonstrates the government’s commitment to providing concrete support to those who choose the path of peace and return to their communities.
