Responder auxiliary police program strengthened as provincial government raises honorarium

South Cotabato, Philippines | December 17, 2025 The Provincial Government of South Cotabato continues to reinforce its commitment to grassroots peace and order as Executive Assistant IV Dennis C. Dignadice of the Office of the Provincial Governor–Barangay Affairs Unit reaffirmed strong support for the Responder Auxiliary Police (RAP).

In a significant boost to morale, RAP members across the province will now receive an increased honorarium of up to ₱7,000.00, recognizing their vital role in community safety and public service.

The increase is welcomed by RAP members who see the program not only as financial support, but as an opportunity to serve and grow.

Among them is Mark Kane A. Dalde, a resident of Purok Megaland, Barangay Carpenter Hill, Koronadal City, and a 2024 Criminology graduate.

Dalde shared that being hired by the Provincial Government as a RAP gave him a meaningful platform to apply his academic training while serving his own community.

“I did not find it difficult, as a Criminology graduate, since I am well trained,” Dalde stated.

According to Dalde, his background in criminology prepared him well for the responsibilities of a RAP, allowing him to perform his duties with confidence and discipline.

He expressed gratitude to Governor Reynaldo S. Tamayo Jr. for opening opportunities for young professionals like him.

Dalde recalled applying to several national agencies, including the Philippine Coast Guard, but receiving no response.

“It was through the Office of the Provincial Governor–Barangay Affairs Unit that I was finally given a chance and assigned to his barangay,” he said in vernacular.

Another RAP member, Jay Barry O. Velasco of Barangay Reyes, Banga, South Cotabato, shared how the program helped him overcome personal challenges.

Once shy and hesitant to speak in public, Velasco said his communication skills significantly improved after joining the RAP.

“Constant engagement with residents and participation in barangay activities helped me build my confidence and leadership skills,” he told this writer.

Velasco described the RAP initiative as transformational, crediting Governor Tamayo’s programs for empowering ordinary citizens to become partners in governance.

Through sustained support, increased honorarium, and capacity-building, the Provincial Government continues to strengthen the RAP program—ensuring safer communities while shaping disciplined, capable, and service-oriented individuals across South Cotabato.

There are 200 in South Cotabato, focusing on safety in order in the barangay level.
