Sangguniang Panlalawigan approves ₱3.89-billion 2026 provincial budget for South Cotabato

Koronadal City, Philippines — The Sangguniang Panlalawigan of South Cotabato has approved a total of ₱3,892,577,987.00 for the Calendar Year (CY) 2026 Annual Budget, covering the General Fund and Economic Enterprises, under Resolution No. 2025-732, Series of 2025, which enacts Appropriation Ordinance No. 2025-06, Series of 2025.

Vice Governor Arthur Y. Pingoy, Jr. emphasized the collective commitment of the members of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan to fully support the administration of Governor Reynaldo S. Tamayo, Jr. in delivering Tama at Maayos na Serbisyo through strong legislative–executive collaboration.

Ang nami lang sini kay may ara kita collaboration with the Governor—open ang aton nga linya para gane kung ano ang iya mga priorities. Ang Sangguniang Panlalawigan ara lang naga suporta sa iya programa nga Tama kag Maayo nga Serbisyo,” Pinggoy said.

The approved General Fund amounts to at least ₱3.8 billion, with ₱27 million allocated for the operation of South Cotabato’s economic enterprises.

The august body reduced the proposed ₱3.9-billion budget by ₱21 million.

Governor Reynaldo S. Tamayo, Jr., meanwhile, underscored that the 2026 budget is anchored on inclusive and balanced development, ensuring that no sector is left behind as the province continues to move forward.

“Sinisiguro natin na walang maiiwan at lahat ng aspeto ng development ay sabay-sabay na aangat, dahil ang South Cotabato—angat sa lahat,” the Governor said.

Based on the General Fund annual budget summary by office, the Office of the Governor has an approved allocation of at least ₱1 billion.

The Office of the Governor oversees 15 divisions, which include Tourism, the Scholarship Program, Barangay Affairs, Internal Audit, Public Employment, Economic Investment Promotions, Persons with Disability, Youth Development, Sports Development, the Rehabilitation and Detention Center, and the Security Unit.

A significant portion of the budget is allocated to health services, with a total appropriation of at least ₱1 billion. This includes funding for the provincial hospital and the district hospitals in Norala and Polomolok.

The Provincial Board approved a ₱105.3-million budget for the Office of the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Officer, while the Engineering Office received a ₱158.5-million allocation.

Meanwhile, the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist has been allotted a budget of ₱53.5 million.

The enactment of the ordinance provides the legal authority for the provincial government to allocate and utilize funds for social services, infrastructure development, economic growth initiatives, and other priority programs aligned with the province’s long-term development agenda.

With the approval of the CY 2026 Annual Budget, the Provincial Government of South Cotabato is positioned to strengthen public service delivery, promote shared economic progress, and advance initiatives that improve the overall welfare and quality of life of its constituents.
