CITY OF KORONADAL — Musicians in South Cotsbsto performed a 2-hour musical concert dubbed “Saro-an” Musical Concert over the weekend here at Famville to sing the hit compositions of homegrown singer/composer Cesar “Saro” Banares Jr., fallen member of the 1970’s Asin Folk Rock Band popularly known for its folk songs with political amessage.
Spearheaded by the Music Sector of the South Cotabato Culture & Arts Council (SCCAC) led by Carlos Bingil of the Samahan ng mga Musikero ng South Kotabato, the songs rendered include Tuldok, Itanong mo sa mga Bata, Bayan Kong Sinilangan, Hangin, among others. The band likewise sang the song Anak popularized by Freddie Aguilar as requested by the audience,
ACTMU staff Rose Am Avellana together with Angie Guanzon Galleego, Tupi Culture & Arts staff also jammed with the band with their rendition of Asin’s Ang Buhay Ko.
The band members were Carlos Bingil (lead vocalist) Edwin Banares (lead guitar), Alejandro Poticar (bass guitar)), Edgar de Velez (acoustic guitar), Deo Mendoza (drummer), Jose Rene Farrofo (kulintang), Eduardo Mendoza (acoustic guitar), Phoebe Sales (female vocalist), Revie Sisneros (flute, agong), Dennis Dos Pueblos (acoustic guitar/vocalist), Lala Suarez (acoustic/vocalist).
The Arts, Culture, Tourism & Museum (ACTM) Unit led by STOO Argie Ryan Asaria, culture & arts coordinators and tourism officers attended the concert.
