The South Cotabato Integrity Circle pushes initiatives for strengthened awareness in Information Transparency in government transactions and information during the Integrity Week Celebration 2025.
This initiative comes after the Integrity body convened for the celebration of the Integrity Forum and online webinar as a part of the 9th South Cotabato Integrity Week Celebration this month of September.
Karen Joy Latumbo from the Office of the Provincial Legal Officer spearheaded the online webinar on the orientation of the Freedom of Information Ordinance of the Province of South Cotabato.
Latumbo emphasized the key features of the ordinances and its importance in transparency in government Information access.
“With this ordinance, we make sure that essential government information are made available to the constituents of the province,” Latumbo said in her statement.
Latumbo further emphasized that though information may be requested by the general public, still, information deemed sensitive and vital to the security and safety concerns may be restricted for public release.
The online webinar was open to students, employees, and the general public livestreamed through the official facebook page of the South Cotabato Integrity Circle.
Meanwhile, the South Cotabato Integrity Circle continues to collaborate with the Provincial Government of South Cotabato through the Office of the Provincial Planning and Development Coordinator in conducting further activities in pushing for a transparent and participative governance in the province.
The SCIC is composed of multi-stakeholder representation such as civil society groups and people’s organizations.
