SCPH Celebrates 56th Anniversary, eyes to become a Tertiary Hospital

KORONADAL CITY, South Cotabato| August 18, 2025 — The South Cotabato Provincial Hospital (SCPH) marked its 56th founding anniversary with a series of activities while claiming its vision of becoming a tertiary hospital in the next three years.

The celebration kicked off with a motorcade that wound through the city, followed by a Thanksgiving mass and a lively basketball championship game at the South Cotabato Gymnasium. The festivities continued with a festive lunch for all hospital staff. Capping off the anniversary, employees from various wards and stations took part in the much-anticipated “Miss SCPH” pageant, showcasing their talents and confidence.

During the event, Hospital Chief Dr. Marilyn S. Abantao confirmed that the institution is “on track” with its development plans. These plans are actively supported by specialized training programs for staff and a continued commitment from the provincial government. This collaborative effort aims to ensure the hospital not only meets its current goals but also provides long-term, high-quality care for the community.

“You can see the departments attending family medicine and internal training because we are looking forward the next three years to become a tertiary hospital with the help of the provincial government,” Dr. Abantao said.

As the province’s main public hospital, SCPH continues to strengthen its services, expand its facilities, and develop specialized departments to meet the increasing health demands of South Cotabateños. Its anniversary celebration served not only as a time of thanksgiving but also as a renewed commitment to future healthcare projects for the community.
