South Cotabato, Philippines | October 19, 2025 –In line with the provincial government’s commitment to accessible healthcare for all, the South Cotabato Provincial Hospital (SCPH) – Outpatient Department (OPD) has reaffirmed its assurance of completely free medical services and medicines for patients who visit the facility.
Dr. Ana Marie T. Tuburan, OPD Chief, emphasized that patients can avail themselves of a wide range of medical services at no cost. These include:
- Vaccinations
- Anti-rabies treatment
- Dental and OB-Gyne (obstetrics and gynecology) services
- Psychiatric consultations
- Routine check-ups and diagnostics
- Minor medical procedures
“All these services are given free of charge to our people, as mandated by the Governor. This has lifted a huge burden off the shoulders of thousands of families,” Dr. Tuburan shared.
OPD caters not only to residents of South Cotabato but also to patients coming from nearby provinces.
This wide catchment area has resulted in a significant influx of patients daily, highlighting the growing demand for accessible healthcare services in the region.
“We understand the long queues can be difficult for many. We are asking for the continued patience and understanding of the public as we try to provide medical services to everyone in need,” she said.
To address these concerns, the provincial government has been fast-tracking the construction and expansion of the facility. The improved infrastructure will not only reduce patient congestion but also provide more comfortable and efficient services.
Once completed, the upgraded facility will feature more consultation rooms, specialized service areas, and improved patient flow, leading to a more streamlined medical service delivery.
“The expansion will also pave the way for additional health programs to be integrated into the department ensuring that the residents of South Cotabato and its neighboring areas can access holistic healthcare without financial strain,” she said.
This initiative is part of Governor Reynaldo S. Tamayo Jr.’s flagship Free Hospitalization Program, a pioneering healthcare project that places South Cotabato at the forefront of universal healthcare access in the region.
The SCPH-OPD serves as a model of how government-run healthcare institutions can deliver responsive, quality, and free medical services to the public especially those from underserved sectors
