CITY OF KORONADAL — Evaluators of the Search for Model School in Solid Waste Management conducted recently the consolidation of results of the unannounced initial evaluation held on the last week of July up to the first week of August.
Eighteen (18) schools joined the annual contest which include 10 elementary and 8 high schools.
Participating schools were Sta. Cruz Elementary School in Tampakan, Banga Central Elementary School in Banga, Puti Elementary School and Sergio Legayada National High School in Norala, Talahik Elementary School and Colongulo National High School in Surallah, Lugan Central Elementary School and New Dumangas National High School in T’boli, Belaza-Catromayor Elementary School and Kablon National High School in Tupi, San Isidro Elementary School and Guinsang-an National High School in Sto. Nino, New Iloilo Elementary School and Tantangan National Trade High School in Tantangan, Upper Klinan Elementary School and Poblacion Polomolok National High School in Polomolok and Namnama Elementary School and Marbel 7 National High School in Koronadal City.
They were evaluated based on the criteria of the contest which are System and Process – 60 points; Organization and Support System – 30 points; Cleanliness and Beautification – 5 points; Community Participation – 5 points.
The initial evaluation and the final evaluation have an equivalent 40 percentage points and 60 percentage points, respectively.
Up for grabs are the cash incentives for the major prize winners; P50,000.00 for first prize, P30,000.00 for second prize, P20,000.00 for third prize, P10,000.00 for fourth prize and P8,000.00 for fifth prize. Non-winners will also receive P5,000.00 as consolation prize.
Aside from major and consolation prizes, special awards of P5,000.00 each will be given to the Best in Recycling, Best in Composting, Best in Organic Garden, Best in IEC, Best in Documentation and Best in Community Participation.
Schedule of the unannounced final evaluation will be on the last week of September up to the first week of October.
Awarding of prizes will be held on November which coincided with the Environmental Awareness Month. Clean Air Month and Climate Change Consciousness Week celebrations.
The evaluators are Jobie de Jesus, Reynaldo Fabrigar and Leo Atangan of PEMO, Fruto Sumagaysay Jr of PIO, Marlyn Dagum and Dr. Marilyn Evangelista of DepED South Cotabato Division, Dr. Nida Pastor of DepED City Schools Division, Hayd-Ali Suwaib of DILG Provincial Office and Gemma Guyos of South Cotabato Foundation Inc.
