Secretary Magno commends the inaugural DRRM summit of PDRRMO-South Cotabato

KORONADAL CITY, SOUTH COTABATO – Mindanao Development Authority Secretary Leo Tereso A. Magno lauded the groundbreaking Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (DRRM) Summit, which not only marked its inaugural event but also stood as the first of its kind in the entire region.

The summit, organized by the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO), was designed to unite DRRM personnel, rescuers, and responders from various corners of South Cotabato.

In his role as guest speaker, Secretary Magno expressed his admiration for the program and underscored the significance of fostering collaboration among disaster management offices from the different local government units across the province.

He further emphasized that this summit could serve as a blueprint for other regions, highlighting how disaster response teams, often preoccupied with their immediate tasks, may overlook the profound value of teamwork during critical situations.

“Napaka-timely nitong DRRM Summit na ginagawa natin ngayon. This is the first that we are seeing the convergence of all different disaster management offices in different areas of South Cotabato. Sana nga maging ehemplo at mag-benchmark dito yung ibang mga regions. Napakaganda ng mga ginagawa ninyo dito sa South Cotabato,” said Magno.

Meanwhile, Governor Reynaldo S. Tamayo, Jr. conveyed a message that emphasized the province’s preparedness and resilience in the face of potential disasters. He shared that the provincial government is continuously monitoring and assessing the risks and threats posed by natural calamities, ensuring that South Cotabato remains well-prepared and resilient.

This event underscores the unwavering commitment and support of the DRRMOs in South Cotabato. Despite the challenges they face, their dedication to collaboration and mutual support in enhancing disaster management across the region remains steadfast and growing.
