Six centenarians in South Cotabato receive ₱20,000 incentive from PGSC

Six newly recognized centenarians in South Cotabato were each awarded ₱20,000 by the Provincial Government in recognition of their longevity and contributions to their communities.

The distribution of incentives was given by the Office of the Provincial Social Welfare and Development (PSWDO). In addition to the cash gift, each centenarian received a package that included a box of biscuits, adult milk, oatmeal, a tray of eggs, and a birthday cake.

Two of the centenarian’s hail from the municipality of Surallah, two from Polomolok, while one each comes from the City of Koronadal and Norala.

As part of the ongoing support, the centenarians will also receive a ₱2,000 monthly allowance for the rest of their lives.

Centenarians also received a ₱100,000 cash gift from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) under the national centenarian program.

DSWD has been disbursing cash gifts to centenarians under the Centenarians Act of 2016, but this role is being transferred to the National Commission of Senior Citizens (NCSC) as of 2025.

Under the new Expanded Centenarians Act (RA 11982), individuals aged 80, 85, 90, and 95 will also receive a P10,000 cash gift, with centenarians continuing to receive P100,000.

The DSWD will continue to implement the social pension program during the transition period.
