Sta. Cruz, Laguna – Four SOCCSKSARGEN Warriors “differently-abled” (DA) athletes who are residents of South Cotabato province shine after Day 3 of the 2014 Palarong Pambansa by amassing gold, silver and 2 bronze medals in athletic events.
Leading the DA athletes is Erika Shane Salinas who won the 100-meter event. Salinas, who is visually-impaired (VI) or totally blind, hails from Tupi.
Roldan Sagan, another VI athlete and from T’boli, ran the 100-meter event and bagged the silver medal.
Two DA athletes likewise won bronze medal each in the 100-meter event.
Jeric Earl Guerra, an intellectually-deficient or “ID” and “partially-blind” Mikko Ashis Calipayan both won the bronze medal each in the 100-meter event.
Guerra is from Lake Sebu while Calipayan is from Norala.
The DA Special Events are categorized as VI-Totally Blind, VI-Partially Blind, ID and amputee.
A total of 26 DA athletes coming from Koronadal City, General Santos City and South Cotabato joined the SOCCSKSARGEN Warriors team for the special events of the 2014 Palarong Pambansa.
