South Cotabato, Koronadal City- Governor Reynaldo Tamayo, Jr. has presented to Department of Agriculture (DA) Secretary William Dar the proposal for the SOCCSKSARGEN Integrated Food Terminal (SIFT) in Tupi, South Cotabato.
According to Gov. Tamayo, if the Integrated Food Terminal will be approved, the location will be on Tupi for a reason that Tupi has a bypass road linking every Municipality in the entire SOCCSKSARGEN area. If the said road will be used, the traffic along National Highways will be decongested.
Gov. Tamayo also added, that this hub primarily aims to provide additional income and it will reduce the transportation cost for the agricultural products of farmers and fishers in the said region.
After the presentation, Sec. Dar commended the governor for being a visionary man and making South Cotabato a progressive province. DA has allotted a total of PhP 351-million for various agricultural programs and projects in South Cotabato province including the PhP 23-M fund for the establishment of SIFT.
The DA Secretary said, “Ganito po kami ka-sincere na pupunta dito upang makipag-partner sa inyo at mapagbuklod-buklod ang ating mga resources para sa pagpapaunlad ng buhay ng ating mga magsasaka at mangingisda.”
