South Cotabato has made a remarkable mark in the Philippines by ranking 9th among 81 provinces for its locally sourced revenue collection. This impressive achievement was recognized by the Department of Finance (DOF) based on the province’s Ratio of Local Source Revenues to Total Current Operating Income for the fiscal year 2022. Although the award was given in October 2024, the province celebrated its official receipt of the accolade recently.
At the heart of this financial success is the Provincial Treasurer’s Office, led by Mr. Alvim M. Batol, CPA. Thanks to their hard work, South Cotabato generated an impressive ₱737.5 million in local source revenues, which came from both the General Fund and the Special Education Fund (SEF). Overall, the total current operating income for 2022 reached a staggering ₱3.34 billion.

Despite the economic hurdles posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, which disrupted businesses globally, South Cotabato demonstrated remarkable resilience. The Provincial Treasurer’s Office, along with various revenue-generating units, worked diligently to ensure a steady income flow, even surpassing their collection targets.
Governor Reynaldo S. Tamayo, Jr. expressed heartfelt congratulations to all the revenue-generating units and economic enterprises under the Provincial Government of South Cotabato. Their unwavering commitment to efficient tax collection and financial management has played a crucial role in this achievement.
South Cotabato’s ability to sustain and grow its revenue collection is a testament to effective governance, sound financial policies, and community cooperation. As the province continues to strive for economic growth and development, this recognition serves as a motivating force to aim for even greater financial milestones in the years to come.
In summary, South Cotabato’s financial achievements not only reflect its strong economic standing but also highlight the dedication of its leaders and community members in navigating challenges and fostering growth.
