KORONADAL CITY, South Cotabato — The Provincial Government of South Cotabato is strengthening its data-driven governance approach through a capacity-building seminar aimed at improving the management and utilization of Community-Based Monitoring System (CBMS) data among local government units on March 25-27, 2026.
The training will be conducted by the Office of the Provincial Planning and Development Coordinator (OPPDC), particularly its Research, Evaluation and Monitoring Division, to equip participants with the necessary skills for efficient CBMS data management.
According to Hazel Rhudy, Statistician II, the training plays a crucial role in strengthening local planning processes across the province.
“This activity is essential for our local government units because the proper handling and analysis of CBMS data will help them craft more responsive and accurate Comprehensive Development Plans,” Rhudy said.
Rhudy added that emphasizing reliable community-level data allows LGUs to better identify priority needs and interventions.
Participants in the activity include the Planning and Development Coordinators from each local government unit across the province, along with representatives from the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) offices in their respective LGUs.
“The training aims to capacitate local planners in handling and analyzing CBMS data, which will serve as a critical reference in crafting and updating each LGU’s Comprehensive Development Plan (CDP),” Rhudy explained.
The activity is being conducted in coordination with the Department of the Interior and Local Government Region XII and the OPPDC to ensure that local government units maximize the use of data in planning and decision-making.
Meanwhile, according to Reynaldo S. Tamayo Jr., the provincial government continues to promote a data-driven and community-based approach in shaping development programs.
“Our goal is to strengthen a bottom-up approach in governance so that development initiatives truly reflect the priorities of our people” Tamayo said.
The provincial government emphasized that strengthening the capacity of local planners in data management will help ensure that development plans across South Cotabato remain evidence-based, targeted, and responsive to the needs of communities.
