KORONADAL CITY, South Cotabato — In line with the 2026 Women’s Month Celebration, the Provincial Government of South Cotabato continues to implement the iJuana Learn Skills Training Program, equipping women across the province with practical skills that support both daily living and potential livelihood opportunities.
Jo-Ann B. Palacio, Population Program Officer IV, emphasized the importance of the program, as a source of their livelihood.
“The iJuana Learn Skills Training is designed to equip women with practical knowledge that they can use in their daily lives,” Palacio said.
Through this initiative, we continue to support women in becoming more capable and confident contributors in their households and communities.”
A total of 43 women participated in the Hydroponics Skills Training, where they were introduced to modern, soil-less farming techniques that promote sustainable food production.
The training provides alternative methods of growing crops, particularly in limited spaces, while contributing to household food security.
Meanwhile, the Basic Carpentry training is currently underway, with 33 women participants actively engaged in hands-on learning through the creation of coffee tables and stool chairs.
The activity focuses on developing fundamental carpentry skills such as proper measuring, cutting, and safe use of tools—enabling participants to produce functional wooden furniture.
At the same time, 30 women participants are undergoing training on Electrical Safety and Installation, conducted in partnership with TESDA and the Provincial Training Center in Surallah.
It provides essential knowledge on electrical safety practices and basic installation, helping participants properly handle electrical materials and address simple electrical concerns within their homes.
These initiatives form part of the province’s continuing efforts to promote women empowerment through skills development and capacity building, reflecting a people-centered approach to governance that prioritizes inclusive growth and community resilience under the leadership of the Provincial Government.
Through iJuana Learn, the Provincial Government of South Cotabato continues to create meaningful opportunities for women—strengthening their role in building more empowered and resilient communities across the province.
