South Cotabato approves ₱295-M supplemental budget for wage increase and development programs

KORONADAL CITY, South Cotabato — The Sangguniang Panlalawigan of South Cotabato has approved Supplemental Budget No. 1 for Calendar Year 2026 amounting to ₱295 million, providing funding for salary adjustments of Job Order (JO) and Contract of Service (COS) personnel, infrastructure improvements, and priority provincial programs.

Through Resolution No. 2026-306, the provincial board enacted Appropriation Ordinance No. 2026-01, authorizing a total supplemental budget of ₱295,003,360.00, consisting of ₱294.4 million for the General Fund and ₱603,360 for Economic Enterprise operations.

According to Committee Chairperson on Appropriation, Board Member Nilda B. Almencion, “The supplemental budget is sourced from provincial savings and underestimated income collections and will primarily support the approved wage increase for JO and COS personnel of the Provincial Government of South Cotabato.”

Additional allocations will fund activities for the upcoming T’nalak Festival, rehabilitation of the provincial water system, rewiring of existing electrical lines at the Finance Building, and counterpart funding requirements for various development initiatives.

The measure was sponsored by Board Member Almencion and received unanimous approval from members of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan.

Provincial officials said the supplemental budget reflects the commitment of the provincial government to improve employee welfare, strengthen public infrastructure, and ensure the continued implementation of priority programs and services for the people of South Cotabato.
